Thank you for your support Babygirl. Italy would be lovely to see. I'm not too far from it now My husband and I are thinking of going to France for the day. We can take a ferry ride over for a day and it's really inexpensive. But I need to brush up on my french "Je ne parle pas francais beaucoup, tu parles anglais?" That's all I need I think, hopefully they'll take pity on an American with basic french speaking skills.

Hi Casper...nice to meet you too. I don't usually have time to even add my 2 pence worth these days. I'm usually so busy at work, and I share my office with my boss, so I'm forever hitting alt + tab to get out of the internet before she sees what I'm doing That's one of the best things I've ever learned in my entire life!

Hello all. I just wanted to start a thread because I haven't in a REALLY long time. I was feeling left out which is down to me I know. But when I saw my husband, Caedes had gotten to his 500th post, I thought I should start making more of an effort to come on here and post something. I really don't have much to say. Life in England is GREAT! I have been here over a year. And Caedes and I will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary next month...we can't believe it is already so soon. Time goes by way too quickly sometimes. I'm looking for different work and it's slow going. I'm also wanting to take up a course of some sort, I'm thinking science related. And I have a new desire to learn Russian. I'm wanting to learn new things now. I think because we were never told that going to college would be beneficial, so most of us probably haven't, I feel left out and I feel like I've been held back from achieving something. I want to do it before I get too old to read a book So I'm looking for a way to learn something new every day - like a new word or something about history or the world that I didn't ever know. If anyone has anything they would like to share, please share here

Which movie is it??...Tommy Boy or Black Sheep where either Chris Farley or David Spade says "it doesn't hurt so much here or here, but right here"? That was hilarious...Love both of those films. A good old classic that I love is "McClintock"...John Wayne, comedy western. It's really funny!

what general advice would you give about location / quality of life / anything else at all you think i should know.. anyone who has ever emigrated anywhere - any advice at all about anything to do with moving ?.

I moved from the US to the UK last year...it's been the BEST move I ever made. But I have to be honest and tell you that it was quite difficult and expensive. I'm not sure exactly what it would cost you to move to Australia from the UK, but I think one of the major mistakes I made when moving over here was that I didn't plan things correctly, which ultimately ended in me not being able to bring my cat with me and she ended up being put to sleep last month, so if I can make any suggestions, the one thing would be to get all the facts and costs for EVERYTHING!!! Because even what may seem like the easiest and smallest thing may be really difficult and expensive. For instance, I didn't know what I would have to pay for my marriage visa, and I still am not sure of the cost of becoming a citizen, becoming a dual citizenship person. I also haven't found out what the tax laws are in the US, I heard that I still have to pay taxes even if I no longer live there, which means I would have to deny my US citizenship, which would be difficult for me, but these are just some of the things that I have found out to be a little challenging. And since you have a child, then I would think there would be a lot more that you would have to find out, like for schooling, etc.

In any case, I hope it all works out for you in the end. I have found it to be exhilarating to make a move like that, to a completely different country than what I'm used to, also because I have the most wonderful husband in the entire world! Good luck to you KK.

This is going to sound strange and probably highly impossible

i think a few of you out there know my story a bit.

i used to live in wisconsin and then i met someone from england, here on jwd, and then i moved to england to be with him and we got married in april...(very happily married i might add).

anyway, in the process of moving i left my kitty behind, only thinking it would be momentarily, but it's been an absolute nightmare to get here over here.

Sad emo...nope, tried the credit card thing. I also tried getting a loan through my bank, but no such luck. I haven't lived here for 3 years, so I can't get squat. I basically am in between country right now because I can't do anything in the US either because I don't live there. Even though I am still a US citizen, pay taxes there and have an income, it does me no luck

Bikerchic...I appreciate the advice, it's not like I haven't heard that before, but it is completely a different situation with Tigger. I know she would be a little stressed out on the plane, but both myself and her vet think she would make the trip just fine, so I don't see that as a problem. She's a tough little kitty. she's been through a lot in her life and everyone still thinks she's a kitten, that's how well she's pulled through everything that life has hit her with. And I would love to get a kitty over here, but only because I'd love to have a kitty for a play mate for Tigger if/when she gets over here. But I will be looking for a permanent residence for Tigger if I can't get her over here.

If anyone still has any more suggestions though I'll take them.

just wanted to inform you all of a children's movie that is coming out in december, during the christmas season, which is entitled "the golden compass".

the film stars nicole kidman and is based on the first of a trilogy of books for children called "his dark materials" written by phillip pullman of england .

Mrs. Caedes here....I agree with my husband that I don't think that all the children will just get up and leave in mass protest at the meetings if going to see this movie. Besides being a good book, the movie looks really cool and I can't wait to see it. We were just talking about going to see it next weekend hopefully I love movie dates....

Wii or XBOX 360 or Playstation -- which to buy?

it will be mostly for my daughter, age 11 and she loves horse type games mostly.

Unconfused...I would definately agree with my husband..Caedes, that the Wii is your best bet for your lucky little girl. She would love the games and the controllers are easy to use. I don't much like shooting games myself, only because I can't seem to shoot the opponents, just my husband when we are playing 2 player...oops! But the Wii has lots of girly games that she'll like and then when she gets older, I think they have lots of other games that she can "grow" into. So if you couldn't tell...my pick would be a Wii! Good luck in getting one. We've been trying for quite some time, but we seem to just miss them. If you are looking at stores, you need to call early in the morning, right when they open to see if they have gotten a load in, then rush in if they have, that seems to be the suggestions I've gotten so far.

5go...I can't believe what I just read in your post??? I can't believe you really think that it's alright for someone to cheat on you.., so let me get this straight and correct me if I'm wrong...If what you're saying is that if you were in a relationship you wouldn't care if your partner was cheating on you? If so, does that mean that you don't care if you were in an exclusive relationship or just in a casual relationship? I'll be anxious to see your response to these questions.

And no, I don't believe that all men cheat. My first husband did, which of course effectively ended the horrible, crap, worhtless marriage. But I'm extremely, happily married to Caedes and he doesn't cheat, which is the most important thing. It depends on who the person is doesn't it and what kind of relationship they are in? If they aren't happy, then they will find someone else I think. But if they truly love the person they are with, they would stay with that person for rest of there lives. It's not that difficult people...don't cheat on the person you're with if you love them!!! It's just being a good person, being honest and true to the person you are with. If you are wanting to be evil, then you will cheat and deeply hurt the person you are with, including putting that person through possibly deeply emotional and scarring problems for the rest of their lives. Once cheating has taken place, then there is no more trust and no more love in the relationship.
